Organic Katrafay essential oil can be used in several ways:
- Milled into a vegetable oil and applied in massage, this is the best way to take advantage of its properties;In diffusion, you will benefit from its soothing properties and its woody scent: creams, shampoos, and of course oils, it will release its regenerating properties for your skin and hair

Suggestion n°1: A Pain Relief Massage Oil / Soothing Balm

Mix:
- 10 drops of Katrafay
- 5 drops of Ravintsara
- 10mL of the virgin oil of hemp
- 2 drops of Ylang Ylang
Apply the resulting treatment by massaging it along the muscles and joints. Let it take you on a journey.
(For a longer massage, use virgin avocado)

You can also apply along the green spine to relax your entire back. External skin application is quite indicated for this oil in massage, for relaxation or therapeutic purposes.

To make a soothing balm with a creamy texture, you can add the equivalent of 10% of the beeswax preparation and melt it all together, soothing you with your fingers.

Suggestion n°2: Anti-acne care;

Mix:
- 10 drops of Katrafay
- 5 drops of Géranium essential oil
- 10mL of jojoba virgin oil
Apply this treatment to acne-prone areas, including the face. Especially for oily skin. For dry skin, use kukui oil or hemp oil in place of jojoba.

This is a great way to help prevent the skin from drying out.

Suggestion n°3: A local treatment to soothe tendonitis

Mix:

- 10 drops of Katrafay
- 20 drops of Ravinstara

essential oil.

in 10 mL of virgin calophyll (tamanu) oil.

Apply locally to the area prone to tendonitis, repeat every night.

However, there are still plenty of uses in very common cases such as joint inflammation, back pain, pulled muscles, sports recovery, soothing massages, rheumatism, inflamed and painful areas of the body, etc.

This plant is endemic to Madagascar; and a classic one at that of Malagasy pharmacopoeia.
On the île, the plant grows in the southwestern regions, dry and hot regions. These are also very good regions for the growth of different species of baobab (our baobab oil comes from there!).It is the strong presence of sesquiterp ishwarane that gives Katrafay essential oil its anti-pain and anti-fatigue properties: rare and sought after, a real benefit for you!

This is a small pite of the Great Île. A shrub that doesn't look like much, you might pass it by if you are walking in the rather arid areas of southwestern Madagascar. As you crumple the leaves, you can smell the peculiar, woody, strong, somewhat camphorated odor of this thunderous plant.

I remember it was very hot, we were visiting an area rich in wild avocado trees with Andy, and you had to cover a lot of ground to see lots of them, of all sizes, of all shapes, some with lots of fruit, some without. It is not easy for us non botanists to find our way around, because avocado trees are not the only ones growing here. You will have understood it: the Katrafay. Honestly, we were not impressed by its appearance. But when working with it: what a smell, what potential!

Do we say Katrafay or KaTAfray?

We're talking more about the first version, even though both exist. Don't panic, if you call us one day without knowing how to pronounce it, we've heard it all: "katrafaï", "katrafé", "katafeyy": we'll know what you're talking about!

In Malagasy, it is often pronounced "kadjafaï", just as the syllable "tr" is pronounced "dj".

It is a typical plant of the southwest of the country, where katrafay shrubs are very common.

What are the virtues and benefits of Madagascar katrafay essential oil?

This is a real gem in our range: you won't find katrafay everywhere, and it is highly sought after for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. It is very suitable for athletes and pre and post-sports: to prepare or soothe the muscles after effort. It is also a very effective tonic to fight against physical fatigue and joint discomfort, very indicated especially for people suffering regularly from muscle arthritis and looking for something to soothe them.

Is pure use on the skin dangerous?

As with any essential oil, we recommend using our katrafay essential oil diluted in a vegetable oil. Depending on your tastes and uses, you may be tempted by pure Coconut oil to apply on the body, or Jojoba oil for a combination skin on the face for example. In dilution, it is good for this oil to use it at a maximum concentration of 10% (that is to say 1 drop every 10 drops). External use on the skin is then quite effective, and we remind you that like any substance that you put in contact with your skin, a small test against allergic reactions in the crook of the elbow is always useful the first time.
